The test requirements of LV123 are defined by major European carmakers to test the electrical characteristics and safety of high-voltage components in road vehicles, such as HV battery system, inverter, electrical air conditioning compressor, electrical transmission oil pump, DC/DC converter HV/LV and On-board charger, etc. This standard defines the state and operating capability of each voltage range.

The LV123 standard regulates different states for voltage range from 0V to 800V, as shown in the table below, and demands rapid voltage slew rate change. The Newest Electrical Mains and Power Line Interference Simulation Testing Software for Download

In recent years, renewable energy has received lots of attention in particular the huge growth of solar energy and wind power. More and more power systems incorporating into the grid could have a significant impact on the current power system. Thus, many standards were set up for integrating renewable energy into the grid such as UL 1741, IEEE 1547, IEEE 1547.1, and NBT 32004, etc.

Moreover, the Low Voltage Ride-Through (LVRT) feature put forward by various countries stipulates that the grid-connected device such as a solar inverter or wind power generator will continue to supply power, when the grid voltage falls, for a period of time until the grid power returns to normal.

To address these requirements, Chroma has released testing software that can simulate the abnormality/distortion of the electrical mains and power line interference. This graphical human-machine interface software controls Chroma’s regenerative grid simulator, the 61800 Series, which is equipped with four quadrant capabilities to satisfy test demands.

In the example below, the power dropped to 0V for 150ms and resumed 70% of output for 550ms, and then spent 800ms to rise from 70% to 90% output capacity. All these conditions can be easily simulated using the software LIST mode. In addition, a preview of the waveform can be seen on the software.

Chroma’s AC Source Software has functions for , LIST mode, STEP mode, PULSE mode, and User-Defined Waveforms (to simulate distorted or interfered mains power). Also, the inter-harmonic test function can simulate the abnormality of the main electrical power.

Best Choice for 48V Automotive Power System Testing Brand New 100V DC Power Supply with Auto-Ranging Output 10kW~150kW

As the trend for global energy conservation and carbon emission reduction leads the evolution of new energy vehicle electrical systems, the world’s major car manufacturers have proposed 48V power system and LV148 regulatory standards for testing new vehicles. The DC power supply is able to output the power from 10kW up to 150kW when setup in parallel under master/slave structure. It has active current sharing and fast transient response functions with active PFC to put low energy consumption and high conversion efficiency into effect to save energy.

High Accuracy and High Stability
The voltage control accuracy on the front panel and through the communication interface is up to 0.05% allowing users to set the required output. The stability of constant voltage and current is 0.005% for 8 hours operating. The temperature coefficient of drift is 0.005%/°C that provides an accurate and stable power source steadily even after long hours of operation.

Voltage/Current Slew Rate Control
The DC power supply’s voltage slew rate control is from 0.001V/ms to 5V/ms and can integrate with an automatic programming mode to meet the diversified needs of specific applications such as automotive electronic systems. Chroma Launches Its New Cost-effective High Power DC Electronic Loads – 63200E Series


Chroma launched the new generation high performance high power DC electronic load 63200A series in 2016 and received wide appreciation from customers. In order to serve  more customers and to cover more applications, Chroma followed up by launching the high cost-performance 63200E series with power rating from 2kW to 24kW. Compared with the previous 63200 Series, the pricing is only about 70% and half the size for the same power.


The 63200E Series have high power density (6kW @ 4U) to meet the green energy power testing requirements for solar energy, hydrogen and fuel cells, and electric vehicles related products.

In addition to the basic CC, CR, CP and CV modes, the expected 63200E Series used in the field of electric vehicle testing also have battery discharge mode to satisfy the discharge test requirements for car battery packs. The 63200E Series can record the Wh and Ah during battery discharge. For the DC power and components in the electric vehicle such as car charger, D / D converter, fuel cells, fuses, switches and wiring, etc., all have models and function that can correspond to the tests.

To comply with the high voltage car charger (600V or more) and the low voltage D/D convert (150V or less), the 63200E DC loads have three operating voltages available – 150V, 600V and 1200V. For voltage and current specifications, each model has 3 settings and 3 measurement ranges. The maximum current output of a single load is up to 2,000A, with power up to 24kW. A maximum power up to 240kW can be achieved by using multiple loads in parallel for greater power testing demands.

The 63200E DC loads also have pulse current loading function to test the fuses, switches and wiring by setting the repeat time to 1 in the existing dynamic loading mode.

The extremely bright VFD display adopted by the 63200E DC load allows users a clear view of test results. Moreover, depending on the desired power level, the DC loads are packaged into either desktop or tower types. On the tower type, the operation panel tilts so that users can easily view and operate the unit whether sitting or standing. All models of the series are designed to a uniform width. Both desktop and tower type models can be mounted into a standard 41U rack enclosure in order to maximize space.
